In House, Songs & Conversations at Q Theatre in Auckland was a fantastic success. Don McGlashan, Rodney Fisher, Anna Coddington & Jol Mulholland played a 2hr + set that spanned time, location, emotions, even continents and held everyone spellbound. Together, they helped raise over $8,000 that will be used to create and support music-based projects that will change the lives of thousands of people in need throughout NZ, while also helping to provide emergency assistance for those from the NZ music industry experiencing distress, illness and hardship.
Each artist performed solo or with the acoustic backing of the others, much like a house concert. Each responded to a series of ”starting points”: one of their songs that the audience would expect, one they wouldn’t, a new song that they want to try out and a cover version that made them think about a place in a different way. This might be a song by someone with a strong attachment to a place, or a song inspired by a particular place, or just a song that was written with about a location showing it in a different light.
Of course, this night would not have been possible without the amazing support of the artists & their families, APRA AMCOS NZ & Trilby Crowther, Q Theatre, Phantom Bill Stickers, Malcolm Ibell, STEVE BONE PHOTOGRAPHY, Fullers, NZ Rockshop, everyone who helped and everyone who came. Our great thanks go out to all, and if you have the opportunity, please support those that support us.
